PAMPERING CHILDREN- what is the correct way to do it
Parents often get confused between taking good care of their children and over indulgence. Pampering usually refers to over indulging children in things that are not always necessary or unwanted. Parents tend to think that because they can afford it, their children need it. This is an absolutely wrong concept as there is a big difference in the things that the child needs and the things the child wants. There are many ill effects of pampering children. The parents may not be able to see it at first but pampering causes long time harm to both children and parents.
Children who are pampered in their growing ages tend to grow up and become very stubborn adults. Since they are used to things being their own way always even as adults they stick to the same thing. But this is next to impossible when they are adults.
They also grow into attention seekers. They want everyone’s priority to be them and at their services at all times. This is very impractical and a sign of extremely bad attitude. With all being uncooperative is the cherry on the cake. Due to pampering children are not used to adjusting. Hence they become uncooperative. When they are so uncooperative they find it hard to live with anyone else. This makes their chances of having a happy family also bleak.
Pampered children are not used to compromising. They have got everything they wanted in their own way till now. They expect the same from people even afterwards. This is not possible as most relationships be it friends, colleagues or family is based on compromise. Without compromise there is no understanding. This often leads to them being lonely and not having many friends.
Apart from this they are also not used to all the ups and downs in life. Pampered children have never been shown the down side of life and are unaware of it. Hence when they have to face hardships as adults it becomes very difficult for them. This in turn results in depression and anger issues.
Another major drawback of pampering children is that when they themselves have children it becomes very difficult. They also pamper their children. Hence they are also not used to compromise and adjusting. This leads to a major crisis at home. When both the parents and children are used to having their own way neither of them settles for anything less. This creates an unpleasant environment at home.

Hence it is very important for parents to know the fine line between indulgence and pampering. Children should be made happy, given gifts and loved. But this does not translate to being pampered. Along with all the loving children should also be told about the words such as cooperation, adjusting and being humble. Kids should be thought all of this with real examples so that they learn their importance at an early age. Children should be told that one of the best qualities anyone can have is being humble and polite. They should be taught everyone is equal and respect should be given to everyone.
