STRESS DURING EXAMS AND DEALING WITH IT
Exams are something that is inevitable in the lives of children and young adults. They mean so many different things to different children and also to parents. Children go through their own stress during their exam and parents undergo a different kind of stress. Both of them caused by the same reason but dealing with them differs greatly.
Dealing with it during exams is very crucial. There are various signs that show the stress levels in your children. Difficulty in sleeping or getting up is a major sign . It is most commonly interpreted as sign of laziness or unwillingness to study by parents. But parents should also consider that it could be sign of stress in your children. If parents know that it is unlikely for their children to show such behavior then they should definitely consider it to be a sign .
Constant tiredness is also a sign . If usually active children show signs of being tired then it can be said that they are under stress. Along with this forgetfulness is also one of the signs. Some children usually complain of unexplained pains and aches in the body due to stress. This leads to overall downturn of their mood and also mental health affects their exams.
One of the major affects of stress on children is loss of appetite in children. Parents usually think that it is just another eating tantrum. But during exams it may be a side effect . Loss of appetite or poor appetite is most commonly seen in children during exams. Other common signs are headaches, dizziness and anxiety.
Dealing with this exam stress is very important for good results in the examination. One of the first steps in dealing with it is talking to someone who has already been through the same thing. It helps in motivation and gives relief. It is also very important not to do any comparison. It is important for children to understand that it is not important how others have scored. The main thing that is important is the child’s improvement. Other important factor in dealing with it is eating and sleeping correct. This plays a very important role in the overall performance of children in their exams.
Parents should make sure that all these requirements of their children is satisfied and their stress levels are maintained. This will have a positive impact of both their exams ans well as their health.
